Select student feedback from Thermodynamics Instruction

Below are a set of student course evaluation feedback taken in entirety without editing:

  • THE best professor that I have come across since I was born.
  • Firstly, Professor Celestin cared. Secondly, there were no big surprises on tests and quizzes and he was explicit on his expectations. Lastly, he is a fair grader.
  • Professor Celestin is an amazing instructor. Communicates concepts in a clear and cohesive manner. His concern with students’ progress is one of the reasons why we felt so motivated to succeed in this course. Also, he is always available to help students with questions, this was key in understanding the material during this fast paced semester. Definitely one of the best professors i have ever had.
  • Great professor, he works very hard and takes this job seriously. His goal is to help us learn and as a student I greatly appreciate this. 10/10 would take again.
  • One of the best professors I’ve ever had! Very caring and interactive with students. Really cares about students success and knowledge of material. Super great professor 10/10!
  • I really appreciated how you did not purposely make the class more difficult than necessary and were understanding when the entire class did not get a topic.
  • Great instructor! Will recommend to friends and to people wanting to learn thermo.
  • included help sessions after class which really helped. always willing to help students
  • Dr. Celestin makes Thermo a challenging but for-filling course I’d recommend everyone take Thermo with him
  • Professor Celestin did an excellent job conveying material in Thermodynamics. I was very impressed with his ability to evaluate his class on their knowledge of the material. Many times a professor will evaluate his/her students on their ability to take his/her test. I believe, many times this results in students memorizing information for a test/quiz and then dumping it. More time is spent on trying to focus on passing an exam instead of really learning new material. This was not the case for professor Celestin and this made his Thermodynamics class a great experience. Professor Celestin was also always available to assist with problems out of class. It really seems like he went out of his way to help the students in his class.
  • Professor Celestin is one of the best professors I had at USF. He respects all his students and he is always ready to help. He always comes to class enthusiastic and prepared to give us all that he has.
  • Best professor I have ever had
  • The instructor at times very inefficient with the class time. More time needs to be spent on driving home the concepts, especially since the instructor makes an effort to be deceptive when creating questions regarding to concepts. Students would reap the benefit if the instructor would be able to work more than one problem per class period. This inefficiency with class time is compounded with the instructors affinity to have students take quizzes. Students would benefit if the instructor placed more emphasis on teaching the material thoroughly rather than keeping to the quiz schedule.
  • He is great, Dr. Celestin is better at teaching than 85% “made up # based on what I have in the last 5 years in here” of all professors I have had in the university’s classes. Even if you are not good at the materials, I love how he simplify the materials so all students despite their learning ability have an equal chance to get fairly and good grades in the class. The only thing I might think of that has potential to be improved and since he has great method to deliver the info, he should have his own way of grading and punishing without referring and using an outdated system followed by department that could not even improve their teaching methods or have a better way of communication with students and delivering info. He should not follow but lead with his own ways of teaching and grading because it is way better than what we have normally in Engineering classes. It was such a pleasure to have a class with Dr. Celestin
  • Dr.Celestian made this bore of a topic very understandable. A 10 week thermodynamics class is no easy task to learn or teach but Dr.Celestian made it tolerable for all of us. He proved to be an honest professor who doesn’t hide his grading scale and is very fair to everyone. He clearly went over exams and quizzes and answered any questions we may have had about the material. Overall Dr.Celestian was honestly one of the better professors I have had the pleasure of learning from at USF.
  • Professors like Dr. Celestin are hard to come by. He made the course both fun and easy to understand! His enthusiasm and creativity is refreshing and he was always open to questions. I enjoyed his class so much that im considering becoming a professor myself because I feel that we need more professors like him.
  • Michael Celestin is a very effective professor. He is always willing to go out of his way to help his students in any way he can.
  • An excellent teacher! Taking thermodynamics over the summer is not an easy task, yet the teacher made it fun and taught the course perfectly. Since summer is fast paced you think you won’t have enough time to learn everything but Celestin made it feel as if I was in the fall. He managed his lessons perfectly.
  • I thought Professor Celestin was a great professor and I was very happy with him.
